Quiet Confidence - Take the time to rediscover John's John's 2328 Pearl St., Boulder. 303-444-5232 or www.johnsrestaurantboulder.com. Traditional fine dining. Hours: Open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday at 5:30 p.m.; closed Sunday and Monday except for groups of 12 or more. Reservations recommended. Moderately kid friendly (no kids’ menu, but pasta and other dishes prepared upon request). All major credit cards. Entrance has two steps, but staff are available to help patrons in wheelchairs navigate these. One vegetarian entree; many fish entrees. Noise level: Quiet. Recommended dishes: Duo of crab, pan-seared duck breast, risotto, lime bombe. Food 4 stars Service 3½ stars Ambience 4 stars $$$$ Zagat recently chose John’s as one of three Boulder restaurants to make its “World’s Top Restaurants” list, and it’s easy to see why: food, service and ambience all get very high marks. Chef and co-owner Corey Buck excels at using contrasting flavors to provide interest. His sister and co-owner, Ashley Maxwell, is responsible for the sumptuous desserts. John’s sits in a cottage-style building on east Pearl Street, and ambience is cozy and quiet. |
